Why this model
The free side of Dietrack — pantry, fridge, grocery list, manual meal logging, manual calorie + macro tracking — runs fine on a normal server. We don't pay anything per tap, so we don't charge anything per tap. That side stays free.
The AI side is different. Every meal idea Nia suggests, every recipe the AI generates from the chicken-and-spinach in your fridge, every plan it puts together for the week — each one is a real call to a real model that costs real money. We charge for that side because we have to. Dietrack Pro pays for the compute; nothing else.
That's the whole rationale. No “premium” colour scheme behind a paywall. No locked-down export. No reminders nagging you to upgrade. If you never want the AI, the app is yours for free, forever.
